Day 4 & 5 - We're probably giving up.

Day 4:
I lost my sex drive. I've been hitting the gym every day this week and seeing my boyfriend everyday & it hit me today that I'd been knocking back his 'come-on's', normally I'm the sex pest in the relationship but when D moaned 'Amy, we haven't had sex in 4 days..' I realised that I hadn't had sex in 4 whole days!!! I hadn't done anything sexual, I hadn't tried to get his pants of, I hadn't failed at a sexual lure. I just hadn't...

So it was on this very day that I decided, enough was enough, doing this detox was so not worth not having sex! (I blamed it on the detox I have no idea what caused it but lets agree it was the detox).

Anyway, I weighed myself and I was... 9 stone 10 pounds, 6 pounds lighter than 4 days ago, and that was enough for me to be honest. My waist is 4cm smaller, my hips are 5cm smaller and my boobs are 4 cm smaller. Sadly, my butt and thighs are the same size, those are the things that I most wanted to change.

Day 5:
My mum carried on for today, determined, she gave up at lunch time thought when the 7-day planner asked her to drink a full stick of celery with 2 apples, she said smelt like cat piss. But in the 4 and a half days my mum lasted she lost 7 pounds which is how much you were supposed to lose in the full 7 days so she's pretty happy!

We're both going to carry on eating a lot more healthier than we were, I want that thigh gap that everyone was going on about like a year ago, cause it's cute.

Hopefully, you guys out there have a lot more determinism when it comes to drinking nasties than me and my mum and if you want to shift some weight I would definitely recommend Jason Vale's Juice Master Detox.

Day 3 - Things are looking up!

I woke up at 7am made all the juices for the day as my mum was at work so needed to take the with her, I then fell back to sleep until 11am which as a little bad as by that time my 8am juice had gone all dodgy.

Regardless. I managed to drink it but was too full for the next one, I went to the gym for an hour and then fell asleep for about an hour and went back to the gym at 7pm. It's been a pretty good day in terms of how up for exercise I was, felt like I had loads of energy especially after that nap.

This is a half drank Turbo Express, it separates all the time which is pretty yuk! And it just reaked of celery.

I got these trainer quad skates and I can not skate in them at all!!! I remember it being a lot easier when I was a kid. Did a small lap around my block and came face to face with death several times. They're pretty hot though, will take a lot of practice to stop looking like a complete prat though.

Day 2 - All I want is a sausage roll

Once again I'm not hungry, my belly doesn't want food, the juices are really filling me up but my mind is like constantly begging me to eat something, anything! My boyfriend sat opposite me today eating a chicken Masala frozen meal from Iceland, it didn't even look that nice but all I could think about was running away with his plate and feasting on it in a corner somewhere..

I genuinely don't think I'll last much longer. My mum hopefully will though, she's doing brilliantly so far. I skipped on some Avocado and a Wheatgrass shot! I couldn't help it the idea of them was turning my tummy.

It's definitely working for mum though, she's lost 3 pounds already! Very proud. I on the other hand, am not so sure, I weighed myself at 5pm and came in it at 10 stone 2 pounds (the same weight) and then again at 9pm and weighed 9 stone 13 pounds. So I have no idea if it's working or not.

If anyone is reading this and really wants to shift some weight quickly and has a shit load of will power I would recommend this detox, otherwise, just don't put yourself through drinking this crap.

Day 1 - I'm so done.

So it's only our (me and my mum) first day of Jason Vales Juice detox and already we're contemplating giving in. We're not hungry, not at all, in the sense that the juices fill you up, everything is good. However, despite what all of the people on the internet said, the juices are disgusting!!!

The Juices...

This juice is the Super Juice is has: Half a lime, 2 apples, A quarter of a pineapple, 1 inch cucumber, 1oz shot of wheatgrass & A quarter of an avocado... That doesn't sound too horrific right? Wrong! The avocado flesh gives it a balmy texture, like you're literally sat there eating lip balm &  the wheatgrass, I can't even describe, it smells, tastes everything is yuck!

This is the Chute Juice, it looks a lot more appealing but don't be fooled. It's worse.
To be honest the majority of the ingredients in this one are fine, apples, carrot, watercress, kale, parsley, cucumber, broccoli stem, alfalfa sprouts, beetroot and courgette, but then there's the celery. It over powers the entire drink, I hate celery anyway but my mum actually likes it normally but hated it in this drink.

This is only 2 of the juices, the Turbo Express had celery in it as well so that was equally as painful to glug. The hot 'n' spicy is yet to be drank at that one is for 9pm, it does however sound much more appealing than the others, 3x apples and a pinch of cinnamon. Yum!!

Before...

To be honest I have very little hope of me changing much in size because I have next to no will power when it comes to turning down Pizza, Burgers and crisps, but I will put my before image and measurements on regardless just in case a miracle happens to be passing.

I look absolutely horrendous, I am aware! This is the most true to form outfit I own, no hiding behind my skirts and dresses; those are my thighs and they HAVE to go.
Thighs: 62cm
Waist: 72cm
Hips: 90cm
Butt: 98cm
Breasts: 92cm
Height: 5'3"
Weight: 10 stone
Age: 19
Bmi: 24.8
So going by all of this information I am just to say within the boundaries of what classes as 'normal weight' for my height... Even a 5'3" person of 10 stone generally starts to resembles an 8th dwarf eventually.

This is my far too fabulous for words mother. She didn't choose the best outfit for this before picture, everything's baggy but she didn't want you all seeing her beautiful curves.
She also won't allow my to tell you's how much she weighs or any of her measurements but I'm sure her after picture will be measurement enough!

I don't doubt that the 7 pounds in 7 days Juice Master detox will work, it's more a case of whether or not I have the will power...

Summer, Summer, Summer!!!!

Hello all!

So, over this summer I have decided to go on a get fit scheme. I blogged a little while ago about wanting a beach body, something to be proud of... well that scheme led to mass amounts of pizza and fried chicken!

This one is different.

Me and my mum will do this 7 day detox, I'm sure everyone has heard of Jason Vale's Juice Master Diet? Well, that is what we're doing. Here's an early morning picture of me with the book in case you don't know what I'm talking about...

This super detox basically puts you on a diet of juice, you're not allowed solid foods for a full week but the juices are super super healthy so it doesn't put your body in any danger and it's only for a week.

After the 7lbs in 7days aspect we'll do a 14 day Turbo-Charge, another book and idea from Jason Vale, one which I haven't got just yet. In addition to this me and Ellie will be going to the gym everyday and I'll be working out with my wonderful mum every night.

So, I will post a picture of me and mum before we start the diet, with stats: weight, height, bmi etc... and I'll post the same stuff after 7 days and then after a further 14, so you can see for yourself whether or not it works!

Also, me and Ellie will be going to Manchester and lovely old London during the summer so we'll blog all about our experiences there!

Thanks, Amy xx

Are you told old for your clothes?

“The world's a minefield for women over 40 trying to dress youthfully."

High street stores are the most one sided aspects of fashion, it all comes down to ‘Am I too old for that store?’. This is the most realistic question all women aged 40 and over will ask themselves at least once in their life.

Is it acceptable for a 40 year old to be seen in a shop such as Topshop and River Island and where does this age barrier of clothing shops stop?

It is a fact that certain trends spring a sense of nostalgia but we see countless women cling on to every garment of their youth in hope of trying to stay ‘hip’ and ‘down with the trends’. Although, done tastefully, it would be acceptable but women like these feel like they are stuck in the ‘too old for Topshop but too young for Bonmarche’ phase.

Louise Mudd, 43, spotted buying black denim jeans in Topshop says: “I only really buy the basic things from Topshop, like denim jeans, from my experience they have the best quality. I don't really have a preferred shop where I go for everything, I think you should just know what a person your age should wear and go with it, its all about knowing the boundaries when you’re a woman my age”.

There is such thing as dressing age appropriate and staying on trend, a woman should never let a clothing shop dictate whether something is too old for them. Jennifer Gibson, 42 says: “What puts me off stores like Topshop, River Island, Miss Selfridge etc is the fact that 2 of my teenage daughters shop there. There’s been countless times where I’ve picked up something for myself and asked their opinion and they’ve looked at me like I had something on my face”.

It is arguable whether women who stay on top of the fashion trends feel like an outsider when a lot of trends encourage showing parts of the body that are not traditionally displayed. Summer is the bane of a lot of women’s lives, its famous for that moment where you dive into your wardrobe and ask yourselves ‘bikini or swimming costume?’. But who says you shouldn't go into a shop and buy that flashy pink bikini if you’re above the age of 40? if you want that flashy pink bikini, you get that flashy pink bikini.

A Topshop Sales Advisor, Rhianna Bonus, 19 says: “I see women of all ages in here, once there was an 70 odd year old buying a fluffy lilac cropped jumper, I loved it. Mostly everyone who I’ve served has been about 14-30 so maybe she was buying it for her granddaughter or daughter. If not, I just hope I’m that trendy when I’m her age”.

There are countless women above 30 who are doing it right. Helen Mirren is a good example when it comes to the ‘wow shes good for her age’. This proves that it isn't all about flashing skin, its about how you wear it. No one wants to be deemed as that try hard who dresses like their daughter, as women get older they become more sensible, mentally and in how they dress. This is where the saying ’40 is the new 30’ comes along, women in their 40’s and 50’s have never been more sexy and talked about in the media than now.

And if you ever find yourself committing the long lived age-appropriate venture, just dream of that time you turn 70 years old, all slippers and no judgements.

Aunt Flo comes to town...

Why haven't we posted in over a week? How rude of us! We've been Insanely busy with University deadlines, too many essays and too little time. Sorry!

The baseline of this post is time of the month, not a particularly attractive topic.

How many of you out there become an uncontrollable bomb of insane emotion?
I experienced this level of crazy last week!

It started when I got home from Uni, my parents were taking the piss asking if I could go back & saying they didn't want me there (the usual for them I should have called Childline long ago). Anyway I stormed into the kitchen and started rummaging around in the freezer.

My mum came over to me and said, "Do you want me to make you something?"

And I literally just broke down... Sat almost inside the freezer balling my eyes. My mum just looked at me in shock and then slowly backed away into the living room. I stormed in there and shouted at my boyfriend that we were leaving; "Drew, come on, I'm not staying here!!".

All because my mum asked if she could make me some food....

Well the next morning came and my Drew had work, so he dropped me of at mine, my dad was letting me in the house and I shouted "here up its freezing out here!" so he shouts "Oh for god sake I am not in the mood for you today, go back to drew's!"

Bringing forth Aunt Irma's hysterical, maniac sobbing...

My dad then told me that he'd made me a dippy in egg, my mum too, so I sat there opposite my mum crying into my dippy in egg. And every time she asked what was wrong I cried more.

She then said: "You're not pregnant are you?"

"NO MOTHER I AM NOT PREGNANT FOR GOD SAKE I'M ON MY PERIOD!!!!"

So that was my experience of absolute insanity. Please E-mail me if you have any mad stories of your own!!

Women, be warned. Those outfits ain't cute.

A couple of weeks ago some friends and I were getting ready, we were pretty tipsy by the time I went to get dressed, the result of which was not good. I’d bought this dress which up until this night I’d never dared to wear… for a reason. It was tight, black, lacy and very short.

At first everything was more or less fine, and then I started dancing. The dress kept riding up to my hips; I looked ridiculously trashy, teetering around desperately trying to hold down the trims.
The night was uncomfortable to say the least, and it would seem many people have had similar problems when they have not quite anticipated what could go wrong.

Have you ever been getting ready for a night out with your friends, looked in the mirror and thought, ‘huh, I look pretty good…’ Well, so have the majority of women. But have you ever got to the club, started dancing and thought, ‘oh dear, this was such a bad idea.’

The knicker-line, a fashion taboo, an ugly sin. Your butt can look fantastic but never with the knicker-line. Laura Evans, 18, was wearing some leather pants and realized, she had the knicker line.

“I did the only thing I thought I could do, I took off my pants, you know, went commando. I didn’t think it was a big deal, and to be honest it wasn’t. Well, until I was actually out.

We were dancing around to T-pain – Apple bottom jeans. So, I dropped to the floor because the song says to, doesn’t it? Anyway basically it was like five or 10 minutes later when my friends just burst out laughing.

I’d ripped a hole where nobody wants to rip a hole.”

Countless amounts of woman have fallen prey to desperately wanting to wear an outfit because they look good, but they haven’t considered how drunk they’ll get, how much they’ll want to dance, how many times they might fall over.

There are two reasons, I believe, why women go out in uncomfortable or risky outfits. Number one, to impress themselves, I love feeling like I look hot when I’m out at clubs.
Number two, to impress men.

But how many men actually find woman in these kind of clothes attractive? In an online survey I found 23 out of 30 men asked, said they would be more likely to chat up a woman if she was dressed sexy but sensible as opposed to a woman dressed half naked but hot…

The see through dress dilemma. You know how the lights in clubs are strobe lights, but the lights everywhere else and normal light bulbs. So, you put on a dress and everything is fine, everything is comfortably hidden.

The strobe lights change things, be warned.

Emily Bainbridge, 20, from Darlington told me this enlightening story, “I was in Tenerife for a girl’s holiday and I just wore this tight black maxi dress on a night out because it was cooling and comfortable.

We went to this little bar, had a few cocktails, and ended up getting up and doing Karaoke, singing ‘Ma hump, ma hump, ma lovely lady lumps’.

So I’m twerking around thinking everyone’s cheering because my singing is so flawless and my moves are like a blonde Beyonce has hit the floor.

But then the song ends and the D.J shouted ‘I don’t know about the rest of you but the only thing I enjoyed about that show was the sexy see through maxi dress.”

Some girls are completely unaware or in denial of how bad their outfit looks, so I got some opinions from some unbiased on lookers.

I asked barman Tom Hunter, 21, who works at a night club in Darlington for his opinion on the matter.

“Some things just can’t be unseen. This woman lent over the bar one night and her entire left boob fell out.

I mean given, she was only wearing a handkerchief around her chest but, come on! Ladies just need to realize that classy will always win the war.”
